Dhaka Polytechnic-Butex students clash, 29 injured in DMCH

Dhaka: A clash occurred between students of Bangladesh University of Textile  (Butex) and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute in the Tejgaon Industrial Area area of the capital. At least 29 people were injured in the incident.

The clash took place at Bitak intersection in Tejgaon Industrial Area area after 10 pm on Sunday (November 24). The injured were rescued and brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital(DMCH).

It is learned that the clash first started between the students of Butex's Aziz Hall and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute's Latif Hall after the entry of Chhatra League workers. After that, several clashes occurred. However, detailed information on this issue was not available.

Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station Police Inspector (Investigation) Bikash Sarkar confirmed the matter. He said, a fight occurred between the students of two halls. We are working to control the situation. He could not give any details on this issue.

Meanwhile, at least 29 people injured in the clash are reportedly receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The injured are - Emon (24), Utsob (28), Azad (28), Bulbul (28), Prashanta (28), Shishir (28), Taufiq (22), Rudra (26), Anan (25), Junaid (28), Soumik (28), Emon (20), Nahid (23), Rakib (20), Emon (22), Prabal (22), Ramzan (23), Md. Mithun (21), Imran (20), Nadim (20), Fahad (19), Khaled (19), Sohan (22), Amin (22), Rifat Biswas (25), Tapu (20), Mehedi (21) and Pratha (28).

Confirming the matter, Inspector in-charge of the police camp at DMCH Hospital Md. Farooq said that 29 students have been brought to the hospital's emergency department following the clash between Dhaka Polytechnic Institute and Butex students. They are undergoing treatment in different wards of the emergency department. Initially, it was not known who was a student of which institution.
