The court acquitted everyone including BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. Earlier, the court sentenced Begum Khaleda Zia to 7 years jail in this case. The High Court granted Khaleda Zia's appeal against that sentence and acquitted her today.
The High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain passed the verdict on Wednesday (November 27) by allowing Khaleda Zia's appeal against the sentence.
It is to be noted that on August 8, 2010, a case was filed against Zia Charitable Trust at Tejgaon Police Station. ACC filed this case on the allegation of illegal transaction of Tk. 3 crore 15 lakh 43 thousand in the name of this trust.
