The Bangladesh Secretariat Officers-Employees Joint Council has called for a grand assembly at the Secretariat on December 4 to demand 9 points, including eliminating salary inequality.

The president of the council, Md. Badiul Kabir, made this announcement at a program organized under the banner of the Bangladesh Secretariat Officers-Employees Joint Council at the Secretariat on Thursday (November 28).

He said, we are on the ground to demand. We urge you to implement our demands without delay.

Making the 9-point demands, the speakers said that all orders unfairly imposed on the service during the decadent dictatorship should be withdrawn and instructions should be given to provide financial benefits on a par with regular jobs, including seniority based on ethnicity. A national pay commission should be formed by including employee representatives and 10 salary grades should be determined instead of the existing 20 grades on the basis of eliminating salary inequality, justice and equality.

Before implementing the full pay commission, 50 percent dearness allowance should be implemented for all levels of employees and the salary grade of those working in the 20th grade (office assistant) should be upgraded to the 17th grade.
