Commenting that tyrant did not flee through the BNP’s movement alone, the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman said that the autocrat government was forced to flee with the movement of all classes and political parties.
He said these things virtually in his speech as the chief guest at a workshop on the 31-point state reform given by BNP in Faridpur on Saturday (December 7) afternoon. The workshop on ‘31 points for repairing the state structure and public engagement’ was organized by Faridpur Divisional (Organizational) BNP at the Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium.
The acting chairman of BNP said that 27 points have been reduced to 31 based on discussions. But these 31 points are not everything. If someone gives a better proposal than this, we will definitely accept it. Only when we get the opportunity to run the country with the support of the people will we get the opportunity to implement the 31 points. We have to take the 31 points to the marginalized people.
He said that every person has to take the initiative from their own position. It is my and your responsibility to maintain the trust of the people. We did not force the dictatorship to flee; BNP did not do it alone. The dictatorship government was forced to flee with the cooperation of all classes and political parties.
Tarique Rahman said, it is natural for a party like BNP to want a fair election. To go that far, everyone will have to play a role. In this situation, BNP wants to see a stable situation in the country quickly.
Stating that there was no accountability anywhere during the Awami League period, he said, the party's leaders themselves said that they had laundered thousands of crores of taka. If there was accountability in the country, money laundering would not have been possible.
Commenting that people's thinking has changed, Tarique Rahman said, as a political party, we want to create an environment of accountability in the country. Not only will MPs and ministers be accountable, but everyone at the municipality and union levels will also be accountable.
He said, in the health sector, we want to create such an environment where the people of the country can take services from the country's doctors. Just as the people of the country unitedly forced the dictatorship to flee, the people of the country must remain united to ensure accountability.
