During the dictatorship, the ACC and the judiciary became slaves of Sheikh Hasina, said Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul, the law and parliamentary affairs adviser to the interim government.

He said these things at a program organized on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day 2024 in Kakrail, the capital, on Monday (December 9) morning.

Stating that corruption has become established in society due to lack of justice, the law adviser said, there was an ACC, a high court, but there was no justice. Khaleda Zia was tried.

At the program, the head of the commission formed to reform the ACC, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, said that for a long time, corrupt people have occupied the state structure in Bangladesh, so that all injustice and corruption can be avoided. This is how a corrupt authoritarian government was born.

He said that while carrying out reform work, a horrifying picture of corruption of ACC officials, including corruption in various state institutions, has been caught. Now there is no choice but to conduct a crackdown.

ACC Director General (Prevention) Md. Akhter Hossain said, "It will be easier to build an anti-corruption society if we can create an honest generation. We need to not only take remedial measures against corruption, but also instill anti-corruption consciousness in everyone's minds."

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Secretary Khorsheda Yasmin said, "Corruption is a major obstacle to the country's development, which we have to fight unitedly to control."

She said, "We are committed to fighting corruption by embracing the spirit of July."
