Dhaka wants to use Ramos' diplomatic skills on the Rohingya issue

East Timor can play a big role in the Myanmar and Bangladesh issues. The country's President Jose Ramos Horta is a skilled diplomat. Dhaka wants to use his skills on the Rohingya issue, said the Chief Adviser to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus said this at a joint press conference at the office of the chief adviser on Sunday (December 15) afternoon.

The chief adviser said that the Rohingya issue was discussed with the President of East Timor. Bangladesh's relations with the country have been going on since independence and the beginning of the journey. East Timor will become a member of ASEAN in a few days. As such, Bangladesh expects their support in resolving the Rohingya crisis.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus also said that there is an opportunity to export Bangladeshi products to East Timor.

Earlier, at a joint press conference, Ramos mentioned that it is fortunate for Bangladesh to come under the leadership of Dr. Yunus.

It is worth noting that the President of East Timor arrived in Dhaka on a four-day visit at around 10:30 pm on Saturday (December 14). Horta was welcomed at the airport by the interim government's chief adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
