Sarjis Alam joins 'March for Felani' long march

Dhaka: Sarjis Alam has joined the "March for Felani" long march program in Kurigram demanding justice for the border killings and an end to the killings. The long march started at 11 am on Thursday (January 16) from College intersection in the district town of Kurigram. It ended at Felani's house in Nakhargonj village of Ramkhana union of Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram.

Sarjis Alam, chief coordinator of the National Citizens Committee, said, "And if any of my brothers or any of my sisters have a dead body hanging on barbed fence on that border, then we will hold a long march like today's march for Felani targeting the barbed fence. And if our march is aimed at the star later, then our target will go as far as the eye can see, piercing the star."

He also said, we want to clearly tell every country in the world one thing, this border killing, this attempt to forcefully stop it in the name of giving the star, the spark of this new uprising will be spread all over the world.

He said, from the march for Felani in Kurigram, we want to say that we do not want to see any dead bodies on the border of Bangladesh. All the citizens of Bangladesh who have been killed on the border should be tried in the international court.

He said, the new Bangladesh that was given through the student movement will not accept the kneeling foreign policy of the student people. Whoever comes to power in Bangladesh in the future, if they become agents of any country to grab power, their fate will be like that of the murderer Hasina.

At the beginning of the long march, Sarjis Alam made 5-point demands including the trial of all border killings including the Felani killing, banning deadly weapons on the border, naming the residential building of Kurigram Agricultural University after Shaheed Felani, abolishing the subservient foreign policy and adopting a foreign policy based on equality, and reforming the river to improve the livelihood of the chars of Kurigram.

The long march was also attended by National Citizens Committee convener Nasir Uddin Patwary, member and member secretary Arif Sohel, office secretary of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Zahid Ahsan, coordinator Rakib Masud and other central leaders.Felani's father Nur Islam was also present at the long march. After the long march, a rally was held at Nageshwari's Nakharganj Bazar.
