Aviation University to open in Bangladesh

DHAKA: Bangladesh will have an Aviation University keeping a pace with the modern world. A bill to this end has been passed in the Jatiyo Sangsad yesterday(Feb. 28). The University will be styled as ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University’. The bill was piloted by Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni.

According to the bill the proposed university will be set up in Dhaka. There will be a statutory body consisting of Chancellor, vice-chancellor, pro-vice-chancellor, treasurer, syndicate and academic council members. This university will act as the guardian of its affiliated bodies.

According to the provisions of the bill, the organizations like Bangladesh Air Force Academy presently run by Bangladesh Air Force, Flying Instructor school, Flight Safety Institute, Aero Medical Institute, Officers Training school and any other recognized organization will be included as University affiliated bodies.

The university will be run by the rules and regulations by University Grants Commission. The bill will be law after the president gives assent to it.
