Faridpur, March 1( Barta24): As part of the country wide program the first ever National Voters' Day was held here today in befitting manner.
The program included rally and discussion meeting.
A colorful rally participated by school and college students, scouts paraded the city streets. It was followed by a discussion meeting on the importance of National Voters' Day held at local Kavi Jasimuddin hall.
The meeting was chaired by Nuruzzaman Taludar, Regional Election Officer while it was addressed by Additional District Magistrate Md. Aslam Molla, Police super Md. Zakir Hossain Khan, educationist Prof. Md. Shahjahan and social activist Prof. Sk. Abdus Samad.
The discussants stressed the need for implementing this years' slogan " Be voter, Cast your vote". Speakers said that vote is our fundamental right so we must cast our vote when necessity arises in our national cause. They also emphasized on creating awareness among the youths to be voter and added that vote strengthened democracy and fate of a nation.
