Dhaka: After a long twenty eight years the premier educational institutions of the country Dhaka University has got new office bearers for running the whole affairs of Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU).

The newly elected Vice-President(VP) Nurul Haque Nuru and General Secretary Golam Rabbani will take over charge after they were elected in the long awaited polls held on last Monday. Yesterday there were a lot of dramas on the campus regarding the polling because of alleged rigging. The common students started protesting the election results except ruling party’s student body Bangladesh Chattra League(BCL). The larger section of the students demanded fresh election while the BCL demanded cancellation of VP election who was a non-party. Nurul Haque Nuru who became hero during quota movement got the nod of the majority students in Ducsu polls.

However the situation changed in the afternoon when BCL VP candidate Md. Rezoanul Haque Chowdhury Shovan embraced Nuru and assured him all sorts of cooperation in running the Ducsu affairs. It was a turning point in the crisis the University authority had faced.

Now vigorous cleaning and refurbishing is going on in Ducsu office building. One remarkable feature in the recent Ducsu election is that the second largest political party of the country BNP backed student body Jatiyotabadi Chattra Dal (JCD) could not make any bite among the students. It seems that is their acceptance is on the wane?
