Dhaka, (Barta24.com): Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam announced that the buses of ‘Suprovat Liner’ will not be allowed to ply anywhere in Dhaka city after it killed a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
While addressing the agitated students of BUP after the bus of Suprovat killed one student Abrar Hossain this morning (Tuesday) on Progati Sarani Mayor said to the students that I have already ordered the concerned authority to cancel the route permit of the bus. He announced this when the agitated students demanded of the punishment of the bus liner.
The Mayor further said that their demand is very much justified and I will seat with the students at least twice in a month to hear from. Taking their opinion I will franchise bus route. And it must be done, he said. He further said that from today seating service will start in the buses and there shall be proper markings at bus stoppage.
He told that the driver of the killer bus will be punished as per law.
Earlier at 7o.clock in morning one student of BUP Abrar Ahmed was killed when a speeding bus knocked him down on Progati Sarani. The bus driver Serajul (25) was detained.
The students after the incident started demonstration on the road demanding the hanging of the bus driver.
The Mayor further said that a foot bridge on the spot of the accident will be built in two months time after the name of victim Abrar.
