PM asks not to affect cultivable land for development

Dhaka, (Barta24): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League chief asked the concerned authorities not to cause any harm to cultivable land for implementing  development projects.

On Wednesday (March27) while addressing a function at her Tejgaon office in connection with the oath of newly elected chairman Md. Anowar Sadat Samrat of Panchogarh Zilla Parishad she mentioned it in her address.

She told, ‘while you take up any development project you must strictly observe that the cultivable land is not affected’. After the function Press Secretary of the Prime Minister Ehsanul Karim Helal briefed the journalists.

Ehsanul Karim said, the Prime Minister instructed the concerned authority that the projects shall have to be taken on the basis of the need of the people of the districts and upazillas. She also instructed to prepare a master plan in this context.

According to Press Secretary, the Prime Minister said that the factories and industries shall have to be set up keeping the matter of environment on top priority. The oath taking function of Panchogarh zilla parishad chairman was conducted by the Senior Secretary of the Local Government division SM Ghulam Farook.

LGRD & Cooperatives Minister Md. Tajul Islam, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, LGRD & Cooperatives State Minister Swapan Bhattacharya, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Md. Nazibur Rahman and Prime Minister’s office Secretary Sazzadul Hassan were present there.

It may be mentioned here that the post of the Panchogarh Zilla Parishad chairman fell vacant due to the death of the immediate past chairman Md. Amanullah Bachchu on last January 9. Next in bye- election held on last February 28 Anowar Sadat Samrat was elected chairman.
