Works Minister warns the illegal building owners

Dhaka,(Barta24.com): Twenty four investigation teams of Rajuk are now in the field to identify the multi storied buildings of the capital build illegally violating the approved plan and designs for Rajuk. The teams were given maximum 15 days time to finish their work. Much ahead of the scheduled time the teams will complete their job, as told by Housing and Work Minister SM Razaul Karim on Sunday (March 31).

He said this in a press briefing at Rajuk auditorium. He said that we will verify that any of the multistoried whether has been built as per building code or violated the conditions set by Rajuk at the time of approval. The owners of those illegal buildings will be exposed to the people through wide coverage in all media who are greedy demon in human form.

The Minister held a meeting with the high officials of the ministry and Rajuk in view of the Banani F.R. tower fire accident. He directed the officials to be alert about the officials of the concerned officials. He streesed on the need to assess the present condition of the existing safety measures of the multi-storied of the capital.

The Minister categorically said that the unapproved structures will be demolished there is no scope to retain those buildings. The meeting was also attended among others by Housing and Works ministry secretary Shahidullah Khondoker, Chief Engineer of Works directorate Md. Shahdat Hossain, National Housing Authorti chairman Md. Rashidul Islam, Chief architect of Architecture department Kazi Golam Nasir and Rajuk chairman Abdur Rahman.

The Minister also warned that measures will be taken not only against the owners of the buildings but also the persons who gave approval to those illegally designed buildings will not be spared.

The investigation teams will look that whether the buildings have fulfilled the required conditions and also the safety measures.
