Nor’wester claims four lives in the capital

Dhaka, (Barta24.com): Four people were killed when the first Nor’wester lashed the capital city and across the country on Sunday evening (March31). The deceased four were killed near Purana Paltan, Shewrapara of Mirpur, Kadamtali and in front of Sangsad Bhavan. Besides scores of trees fell due to the impact of the storm.

At the crossing of Puarana Paltan one Hanif,50 was killed when the carnish of Mallik complex fell on him. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital(DMCH) where he was pronounced dead by the on duty doctor, said police sources.

One Dulal,40 was killed when some bricks fell on him in Shewra para of Mirpur during the storm. His body was sent to DMCH, said Mirpur police.

A woman was killed in front of Sangsad Bhavan when a tree fell on her, as told by the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police.

Kadamtoli police sources said, one rickshaw puller Hassan while returning home at no. 5 Palashpur was killed when a boundary wall of a house fell on him. 

On the other hand the boundary wall of Ad -din hospital in Maghbazar collapsed due to the impact of the strong Nor’wester. One fire service unit is working there.   

Besides, one CNG run auto-rickshaw, one private car were damaged when a big tree fell at Hare road. Moreover, many trees fell on Mirpur road, Science Lab, Dhaka University and Dhanmondi area of the capital.
