Dhaka,(barta24.com): Election Commission(EC) has taken measures to lessen the dependency on Dhaka office regarding the lost National Identification Card(NID). Now the reprinted NID can be collected from District Election Office(DEO) from April 20 of the current year.
On Monday (April 15) a letter signed by Assistant Director(AD) of NID registration sub-section Arafat Ara was sent to 64 DEO and Upazilla offices requesting to take measures in this direction.
In the letter it has been told that in the monthly coordination meeting held on last January 13 of 2019 decision to make the NID services at the door steps of the citizens was taken regarding NID reprinting works and its decentralization at the district level including three hill districts. With this objective decision of setting connectivity was taken up. Meanwhile connectivity with 64 DEO of EC has been set up. Earlier in each DEO two printer machines, one laminating machine and other necessary equipments were purchased. For this reason the EC has requested all DEOs to reprint and issue lost NID. In the circular it has been mentioned that if there is any problem regarding the printing, then the DEO has been directed to contact Senior Maintenance Engineer and System Analyst of NID section of EC.
It is learnt that at present only in Dhaka the lost NID is being printed. As a result the citizens need to come to Dhaka for getting lost NID. According to new initiative the services will be available at DEO.
It is also mentioned here that for lost NID a copy of General Diary(GD) of police station and necessary fee is required to get reprint of lost NID from the Dhaka central office. END
