Dhaka, (Barta24.com): Information Minister Dr. Hassan Mahmud warned the cable network owners for telecasting advertisements, drama, cinema and songs violating the conditions otherwise they will be taken into task.
He said that very soon a time frame will be given after discussing it with the cable net work operators and if any one telecast then lawful actions will be taken against them.
On Wednesday noon(April 17) in his office at the secretariat the Minister sounded this warning while in a meeting with the Cyber Café Owners Association of Bangladesh(COAB).
The Minister said that you have been reaching the cable network services door to door for a long time which is very important. We assumed that you are rendering the cable services to three crores of TV. Earlier this facility was available only in towns and cities but now the service has expanded in the remote areas of the country. You have played very important role in this field. But I must remind you one thing that at the time of taking license you were supposed to observe certain conditions. So now you must follow those conditions otherwise you are to face legal actions.
Dr. Hassan Mahmud told that those who took license for cable net work operation, they will only do that. There is no scope to telecast advertisements, cinema or any other programs.
Telecasting of local advertisements in the cable net work the Minister said but the condition does not allow it. Even the cinema show, musical functions are telecast which are not allowed in the condition.
He said that there was a condition to adjust the government channels BTV, BTV World, Sangsad channel and BTV Chattogram before all private channels in the serial in your system but this is not obeyed properly.
Information Minister said that I want to inform all the cable operators through your organization to follow the conditions laid at the time of issuing license. We want to bring discipline in this field which is good for all.
He further told that the two organizations who down link programs, we gave them notice. They have submitted primary answer and sought two weeks time for detailed reply. That period has not yet ended till now. I would request you to be careful so that no local advertisement is telecast in the foreign channels.
