Expats’ safety is ensured abroad

Dhaka, (Barta24.com): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that, 'it is the responsibility of the Bangladesh government to ensure safety and security of the expatriates who play very important role in the economy of the country and send their hard earned money. She disclosed that in every country Bangladesh’s own building or chancery will be built where there are Bangladeshi expatriates.'

She told this while inaugurating the foundation of the new chancery building of Bangladesh High Commission in the diplomatic zone of capital Bandar Seri Begawan of Brunei on Tuesday(April23).  

PM Sheikh Hasina said that it is the responsibility of the government to look after the welfare of the expatriates. The concerned Minister of that country should occasionally visit them where the expatriates are working to see their condition for himself.   

Sheikh Hasina mentioned that the expatriates also contribute much in those countries where they work in building their infrastructure and their economy. The head of the government also mentioned that in several countries including Saudi Arabia at the initiative of Awami League government new chancery complexes are already functioning. Besides, more such complexes will be built in other countries including Italy soon. The educational facilities of the expatriates’ children along with chancery complexes are also being looked into there.

Prime Minister stressed on attaching the culture and history of Bangladesh in the newly constructed chancery complexes. The environment and climate of the concerned countries will also have to attach importance, she said. Sheikh Hasina praised the plan and design of the new complex and thanked the architect Rozine Mary Yantiki.

In the function Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen and Bangladesh High Commissioner Air Vice Marshal(Rtd) Mahmud Hossain also spoke.

It is learnt that the work of the chancery complex will be completed within 18 months. It is also expected that after completion of the building the consulate service to the Bangladeshi expatriates will be increased several times.

According to program schedule of the PM, she will leave Brunei at 5 PM of local time after completing her three day official visit to this South East Asian country Brunei. She along with her entourage is supposed to land at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport at 7.45 PM by a special flight of Bangladesh Biman airliner.
