All out security centering Buddha Purnima in the capital

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken all out security arrangements centering Buddha Purnima, the biggest religious festival of the Buddhist community. Police said that the festival to be held on May 18 will be safe and secured because of the beefing up of the security arrangement taken by the law enforcers.

Recently in a coordination meeting held at the DMP headquarter the matters of overall security, law and order and traffic management these decisions were taken.

On Monday (May 13) Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesman Masudur Rahman has confirmed this to Barta24.com.

Quoting DMP Commissioner Md. Asaduzzaman Mia, the spokesman informed that decision of a strong, coordinated and flawless security arrangements have been taken centering all programs of Buddha Purnima. All Buddhist temples and adjacent areas will be brought under CCTV coverage. Those areas will have sufficient lighting arrangements. The people entering the temple will be checked manually and through archway.

Moreover the temple authority will be requested to arrange sufficient number of volunteers along with displaying their identity marks. All drugs, fire works and crackers have been banned. For security sake every one should be restrained to fly lamp shade lanterns. All musical instruments shall be kept stop during Muslim prayer time (Namaz). No mobile shop or hawker shop will be allowed to allow free movement of traffic by the side of the temple. For security reason there will be sufficient barricades in all side roads of the temple.

In case of any suspected person his identity should be ensured. No one will be allowed with big bag, back pack, packets, any sharp material and combustible chemicals. The function place will be swept by bomb and dog squads. Fire tenders for extinguishing fire and sufficient ambulances will be kept ready at the function venue. A Buddha Purnima observance committee will be formed with police and with the representatives of all sections of people. There will be plain cloths intelligence department personnel around the program place.

Regarding rally management instruction, DMP Commissioner said In connection with Buddha Purnima on Friday (May 17) at 9 a.m. morning a ‘peace rally’ organized by Bangladesh Buddhist Cultural Council will travel to Press Club beginning from National Museum via Shahbag.

On Saturday (May 18) a ‘peace rally’ organized by Dhrmarazik Buddhist Mahabihar beginning from Buddhist Mahabihar will travel to Mostofa Kamal stadium and return to Dhramrazik Buddhist Mahabihar via Kamalapur.

The people participating in the rally will be allowed to get in after proper checking. It will be ensured by the volunteers from all sides. No bag, back pack, sharp material, firearms and combustible chemicals will be allowed in the rally.

The Police Commissioner has requested all citizens to extend all kinds of cooperation to make the program successful and secured.
