BSTI cancels licenses of seven companies

The national quality control watch dog Bangladesh Standard Testing Institution(BSTI) has cancelled the licenses of 7 companies who were earlier producing adulterated consumer goods as declared by the High Court. Moreover the production of 18 brands of consumer goods have been suspended.

On Wednesday in a press release BSTI has confirmed it.

BSTI recently has tested the quality of 406 consumer goods of 27 varieties in their laboratory. Of the total goods the results of 313 were published. In the test result 52 varieties were found adulterated and of low standard. The result was announced in a press conference of the Commerce Ministry held on last May 2.

On the basis of this report the High Court had directed to withdraw the 52 consumer goods. Even the Court had directed the concerned authority to destroy the goods after confiscating.

The license cancelled companies are as follows:- Mineral Water producers- Al Safi, Shahriyar and Brothers(Narjan drinking water), Morn Dew pure drinking water, RR dew drinking water.

Soft drink:- Shanta food products of Keraniganj, Zahangir food products of Kamrangir char(Priya soft drink powder).
Ghee: Banalata sweets and Bakery, Mirpur.

The suspended companies are as follows:

Mustered oil brand: Teer (City oil of Gazipur), GB(Green Blessing oil, Narayanganj, Pushti(Shabnam vegetable oil, Naryanganj), Rupchanda(Bangladesh Edible oil, Naryanganj).

Mineral Water: ARA (Ara food and beverage), Duncan (Duncan products), Dighi (Dighi drinking water).
Vermicelli: Pran Lachcha semai(Pran agro limited).
Turmeric powder: Pran, Danish and Fresh.
Curry powder: Pran and Danish.
Salt: ACI and Molla.
Coriander (Dhonia) seed powder: ACI pure Dhonia powder.
Chipps: Sun (Kasem food). Noodles: Doodles.
