Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Kader informed the progresses of Padma multi-purpose Bridge, tunnel construction under river Karnaphuli and Dhaka elevated express highway on Monday(May20).
Regarding the progress of the Padma Bridge the minister said that the progress of the main bridge structure is 76 percent, river training progress is 55 percent, connecting road progress is 100 percent and the overall progress of the project is 67 percent. Of the total 236 pile diving work of 230 are completed now. The rest diving work will be completed within July 5 of this year.
He informed that of the total 42 pears work of 25 are completed now. Within June work of more 6 will be completed and work on the rest 11 are on going. The total number of span is 41. On the Maowa end so far 23 trusses arrived, on which 12 spans were already fixed. So 1800 meters are visible now.
The minister said that on Tuesday (May21) number 13 span will be set and the work of the rest spans are at finishing stage. On both end of Maowa and Jajira end the work of piling and pier have been finished. The work of pier cap and girder setting is going now. Of the total 13 kilometers river training work, river training of 3 kms. are done so far. More four kms. will be done by December.
About the Karnaphuli 3.4 kilometer long tunnel consisting of four lanes, the minister said that Taka 9880.40 crore will be the cost of the project. The digging of 160 meters have been completed after setting 80 tunnel rings of two meters length. The over all progress till now is 38 percent. In 2022 the tunnel construction work will be completed.
About the progress of the Dhaka elevated express highway ppp project, the minister said that, the route from Hazrat Shahjalal International airport, Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Maghbazar, Kamalapur, Syedabad, Jatrabari, Dhaka and Chattogram highway Kutubkhali. The length of the main line is 19.73 kilometers.
Of the physical work done so far 1333 piles were driven, 300 pile caps have been fixed, 79 cross beams, column construction work of complete 187 done and 119 partial work done and work of 186 I shaped girder done. The compensation of first phase was done and the compensation of second and third phases is going on, the minister said.
The minister informed that TYPSA consulting firm has submitted its feasibility study report (inception report)of Sub Way of Dhaka city(Under ground Metro). They are likely to submit Interim report within June 2019. The feasibility study work will be completed in December 2022.
Minister Obaidul Kader further informed that steps are being taken for feasibility study to construct tunnel under river Jamuna.
