Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek informed that the process of appointing more 10 thousand doctors is going on.
On Tuesday (May 28) in a press conference in connection with `Safe Mother hood Day- 2019' held in the meeting room of the Health Ministry Zahid Malek told this.
The Health Minister informed that the present government in its last tenure appointed 13 thousand doctors, 15 thousand nurses and 16 thousand health workers. The process of appointing more 10 thousand doctors, sufficient number of nurses and other health sector workers are going on.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 1998 made the announcement to observe Safe Mother hood Day on May 28 to enhance the awareness of the people about mothers health as well as to check the death rate of the neonatal mothers. Accordingly the Safe Motherhood Day is being observed with due gravity. The slogan of this year is” Dignity, Rights and commitment of serving the pregnant mothers in the rural health centers” which is very much meaningful.
Zahid Malek informed that in every government and non-government medical college hospitals, 59 district hospitals, 68 mother and child centers and at 132 upazilla hospitals emergency treatment of the pregnant mothers is now running. Again the CSBA services are in force in the community level including referral services in complicated cases.
So far 11257 female field workers and trainees are working at community level after completing CSBA course. Moreover as per announcement of the Prime Minister in the 65th General Assembly of UN to make 3 thousand midwifery, the necessary course is now running. So far 1600 nurses got certificates on midwifery after completing a month long training, he informed.
We are working to build up trained man powers along with infrastructural development of the country in the health sector. As part of it we are setting up medical universities in each division, medical colleges and nursing institutes.
