A modern cancer hospital to be here with Japanese help

Dhaka,(Barta24.com): A number of medical treatment deals were signed this time during the Japan tour of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. With the help of these deals after implementation Bangladesh would move ahead in health sector that will give relief to the people as expected by the leaders of the two countries.

Three deals between two countries were signed for establishing one cancer hospital, one nursing home and establishing one research center with the help of Japan Green hospital, Ichi hospital Ltd. and Ethics Advanced Technology Ltd(EATL)respectively.

Under the agreement Japan government will invest Taka Two thousand crore for establishing one cancer hospital, one nursing medical college and one medical technology research center in Bangladesh. In the proposed cancer hospital, treatment with the modern technology of Proton Therapy will be used to treat cancer patients not available in any South Asian countries or Bangkok or Singapore.

Treatment by Proton Therapy technology has brought a revolutionary change in cancer treatment in Japan which will be brought to Bangladesh for the first time. This technology without any side effect can create impact on the tumors. This therapy within few hours of use, destroy the germs of cancer in human body.

In the deal signing function Sheikh Hasina was accompanied by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriyar Alam and Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Rabab Fatima.

The tripartite deal was signed by Heroki Kobaishi, Dr. Moazzem Hossain and Managing Director M.A. Mubin Khan on behalf of Japan Green hospital, Ichi hospital and EATL respectively.

Japan Green hospital of same Ship group Ichi has already invested Taka one thousand crore in Heart and kidney treatment in our country. A hospital is now under construction in Uttara in the capital which will be inaugurated in the mid January of 2020.

In 2005, 7.5 percent died in cancer but the International Agency for Cancer Research estimates that by 2030 the number will rise to near 13 percent. Last year 1.5 lakh new patients were diagnosed with cancer and 1.08 lakh people die of cancer in Bangladesh every year.

According to the deal a dream cancer project with the help of Japan Green hospital, Ichi hospital and EATL is going to be implemented in Bangladesh. The main of object of this proposed hospital to be established at Purbachal is that to reach to the people the latest treatment facilities with minimum cost, to create skilled manpower for management of this disease, and create awareness about this disease among the masses and also to create opportunities for research on this disease. According to Cancer Awareness Foundation there are facilities of cancer treatment at 37 centers in Bangladesh. In our country we have only 150 Specialist physicians and 16 child cancer specialist doctors. The treatment methods available here are Dual Energy Linear Accelerators, Cobalt, Brachy therapy, Deep X ray and Tuber beam.

The Diagnostic facilities available here are PET-CT, SPECT-CT, digital mammography which are done thorough stereotactic biopsy.
