State minister for Cultural affairs K.M. Khalid urged upon the media people and cultural activists to play more active role to resist militancy.
He said that the people involved with cultural activities can never be inclined to militancy and terrorism. The cultured people always have a mindset of men of ethics and humane. He also mentioned that the media men should play more active role in flourishing culture.
He was addressing a function organized at local press club to accord reception to Orin Nashid Hridi for receiving President’s gold medal and Prime Minister’s gold medal for her success in academic career. Hridi is the daughter of senior member of Mymenshing press club Abdul Wadood Sarkar.
Secretary of Mymenshing press club Shaikh Mahiuddin delivered the address of welcome while it was chaired by deputy Commissioner Dr. Shuvash chnadra Biswas.
It was also addressed among others by press club vice-president Nawab Ali, Dr. K.R. Islam and Professor Pradip Kumar Pandey of Mass Communication & Journalism department of Rajshahi University.
The function was attended by the officials of district administration, local people’s representatives, Awami league workers and members of the press club.
A solo musical soiree was presented by Orin Nashid Hridi in the function. Hridi is doing teaching in the Music department of Chattogram University.
