Dhaka, (Barta24.com): An warrant of arrest has been issued against the Managing Director (MD) of Pran group Ahsan Khan Chowdhury by the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedy Pavel Sweet.
The arrest warrant was issued on Sunday (June 23). This was confirmed by the prosecutor Md. Kamrul Hassan of Food Inspection and Safe Food Court of Dhaka South City Corporation(DSCC).
The Safe Food Authority filed case against the Pran group for producing and marketing inferior quality of Ghee, Lachcha Semai, Turmeric powder and many other products. The next hearing of the case has been fixed on July 30.
Kamrul Hassan told that in today’s hearing the MD Ahsan Khan Chowdhury was absent. His lawyers informed that he could not be present in the court as he was sick. But the court did not accept the plea of lawyers of the accused. The court cancelled his bail and issued arrest warrant.
