Nasrul Hamid pleas TIN for the users above 500 units

In the proposed budget of 2019-20 fiscal year it has been made mandatory to have Tax Identification Number (TIN) for all electricity consumers. However the State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral resources Nasrul Hamid called upon the Finance Minister to reconsider this proposal.

He said that out of 3 crore consumers of Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS) one crore 20 lakh consumers use less than 40 units per month. They are the poorer section of the villages. So after reconsidering the budget proposal it might be made mandatory that the users of above 500 units shall be required TIN.

He said in the Jatiyo Sangsad that on Sunday (June 23) taking part in the budget discussion of the third session of 11th Jatiyo Sangsad.

Nasrul Hamid disclosed that in 2014 the budget allocation in Power, Energy and Mineral Resources sector was only Taka 4000 core but this year we have got budget of Taka 29000 crore. The country is heading towards hundred percent electrification. By December of the current year hundred percent villages will be electrified. We have been suffering from scarcity of gas but that problem is also going to be solved. Earlier I announced that at the end of three years 75 percent gas demand in residential areas will be solved by LPG but now 82 percent houses are getting facilities of LPG facilities.

He said that within this year all the districts of the country where Economic Zones are located will get pipe line facilities in the industrial units.
