Dhaka,(Barta24.com): The Biomedical Research Center(BRC) of University of Dhaka has opined that the all the pasteurized milk available in the market including those of Pran, Milk Vita and Arong are beyond standard quality. The researchers told that the samples of both the pasteurized and unpasteurized milk were examined whether it contains detergents. After chemical examination it was found that the samples of pasteurized and three samples of unpasteurized milk contained detergents or soap including that of Pran group.

BRC Director Professor ABM Faruque told Barta24.com that, ‘I think that these milks are fake. Our Intelligence department should work on this matter.’

This researcher told that, ’In my 45 years study in Pharmacy I never heard that soap is mixed in milk which was found in the milk of Pran group. Milk does not need cleaning. It does not need to be foaming. Then why soap is in milk?’

He further told that, ‘At first I could not believe that milk will contain soap. So to be sure I have examined it repeatedly.’

Professor Faruque when asked that how soap is mixed with milk he said that generally machine oil is the most cheap. It has no smell. This oil is mixed with water though oil and water does not mix. Anyway it was done forcibly. One emulsion of water and oil was produced. To make the emulsion two things were required –one detergent and the other is emulsifying agent. That company had learnt the science to produce fake products.

This researcher told that in this process it is easy to make fake milk. To make this fake milk the production cost is minimum as well as it does not require original milk.

He said that firstly the detergent is mixed with machine oil through a homogeny machine. In open eye the components cannot be separated. Again its color also becomes white and thick like milk. It becomes prefect milk after mixing a flavor.

When asked that if the Pran milk is taken then what may happen to human body. He replied that the machine oil does not cause human death. But there will be loose motion, vomiting and mal digestion.

He continued that if that fake milk contains maximum quantity of detergent then it will create harm to human body. We use soap in medicine but those are of high quality. But definitely in fake milk this will not be done. So if this milk is taken it is harmful for stomach and liver.

Speaking on the alleged fake milk of  Pran, Communication Manager of Pran group Towhiduzzaman told Barta24 that this research paper is not acceptable to us rather the report of BSTI is acceptable to us.

On the other hand Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution(BSTI) did not any get any harmful ingredient in the 18 pasteurized milk samples of 14 brands available in the market. It was learnt from their statement submitted in the court.

To the contrary, a group of Dhaka University researchers told that if this government agency(BSTI) is given facilities in different ways then approval of any product can be obtained about the standard and quality.

On the other hand the Consumers Rights Directorate informed that they are aware of the research of BRC. Deputy Director of the directorate Manjur Mohammad Shahriyar told Barta24.com that the quality of any product is being looked after by BSTI. If BSTI declares any product quality inferior then we will carry raids.
