Accountability to be brought back in Railway department

Dhaka: The newly appointed Director General(DG) of Bangladesh Railway Md. Shamsuzzaman said that the Bangladesh Railway is now going through a process of transformation and there have to bring back accountability in several places through this transformation. There is already some accountability still we have to bring more accountability.

In an instant reaction to Barta24.com the new DG Md. Shamsuzzaman who joined on Thursday (July 4) told this.

He said that if we can admixture accountability and development then the people will get increased services of railway department.

Md. Shamsuzzaman told that `railway is like an industry which runs whole day and night. So we are to take plan to run it continuously. We are to bring coordination in that plan. I have been serving in this department for more than 34 years so I am well aware about its problems. I will overcome all these problems taking all of you in the fold.'

DG also told Barta24.com, `we have a number of mega projects. Some were already implemented and some are running. I would implement the on going projects more perfectly. The problems including ticket black -marketing, maintenance problem and security would be dealt with accordingly and if accountability is restored then the people will get railway services. I want the cooperation of all in theses activities.'

Md. Shamsuzzaman completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from BUET in 1983. After qualifying in PSC examination he joined Railway department in 1985. From then he has been performing many important responsibilities in the department. Before becoming DG he had been holding the post of Additional DG (Rolling stock) from 2016.

Being impassioned to literature Md. Shamsuzzan has also authored a number of books. The basic idea of his writings is liberation struggle. The published books included ---- ‘Khalparer Padabali’(Story book), ‘Swapner Dolachal’(story book), ‘Kahmbirir Gandha’(story book), ‘Banbhashi Ekjon’(poetry), ‘Nanarokaom Padya’(Essay) and ‘Ghumanta Chand’(poetry).
