Rickshaw-pullers have been continuing protest for the second consecutive day, blocking different streets in Dhaka demanding immediate withdrawal of decision on rickshaw movement on three important routes.
Vehicular movement disrupted as thousands of rickshaw-pullers took to the streets and started sit-ins at different points in Mugda, Khilgaon Bishwa Road and Malibagh since Tuesday morning.
The protesters stopped traffic in a major stretch of the road, creating a long tailback and bringing sufferings to the office-goers in the morning. Many commuters were forced to walk to their destinations.
Md. Abdul Kuddus Fakir, officer-in-charge at Rampura police station confirmed about the situation to batra24.com.
He said: “Law enforcing agencies are trying to handle the situation to ease vehicular movements in the city streets.
On Monday, the protesters occupied the streets of Mugda, Maniknagar, Manda, Balurmath and Kamalapur Titipara.
