Protesting rickshaw-pullers have removed blockades from all busy streets in Dhaka after getting assurance from the law enforcers that the ban on rickshaws on three city streets will be lifted soon.
Earlier, rickshaw-pullers have been continuing protest for the second consecutive day, blocking different streets in Dhaka demanding immediate withdrawal of decision on rickshaw movement on three important routes.
Vehicular movement disrupted as thousands of rickshaw-pullers took to the streets and started sit-ins at different points in Mugda, Khilgaon Bishwa Road and Malibagh since Tuesday morning.
The protesters stopped traffic in a major stretch of the road, creating a long tailback and bringing sufferings to the office-goers in the morning. Many commuters were forced to walk to their destinations.
