A Dhaka court has accepted the charge sheet brought against a teenage girl for killing a kitten in Dhaka and uploading the video on social media.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ashek Imam accepted the charge sheet on Tuesday after scrutinaising the case documents, relevant documents in the case.
After accepting the charge sheet, the magistrate sent it to the court of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zahedul Kabir and shifted the case documents to the Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 for disposal by holding a trial.
The court also granted permanent bail after she filed a bail extension prayer before the court.
Earlier on March 19, a teenage girl uploaded a video on social media Facebook where she killed a kitten. The video spread like wildfire through social media overnight.
Later, a team from Care for Paws, an organization working for animal welfare, led by its general secretary Zahid Hossain went to the girl’s house and confirmed her identity and address.
After the raid, Zahid filed a case against the girl under the Cruelty to Animals Act-1920 with the Mugda Police Station.
Mughda police submitted the charge sheet in the case naming twelve people as prosecution witnesses including the complainant in the case on July 1.
