Two auto-rickshaw passengers have been killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Kaptai upazila of Rangamati.
The deceased are Atal Barua, 45, and Tujoya Aung Marma, 50.
Former chairman of Kaptai upazila, Dildar Hossain confirmed Barta24.com.
According to local sources, around 11am on Saturday, Atal and Tujoya were riding a CNG auto-rickshaw on the Raikhali-Bangalhalia-Bandarban main road, when a landslide at Karigarpara under Raikhali union of Kaptai, killed them on the spot.
The Fire Service rescuing team is yet to reach the spot and recover the bodies.
Several places in the country, including the northern and southern regions, have been flooded by the constant rainfall for the last five days, and the rush of upstream water, leaving many people stranded in their homes and prompting eviction.
