Water transport workers have called off their strike, allowing launches to operate all routes throughout the country.
“We’re now in talks with the labour ministry officials. After the meeting, the next decision will be taken,” said Shah Alam, president of Bangladesh Water Transport Workers' Federation told Barta24.com.
The water transport worker’s organisation announced the strike for an indefinite period from Wednesday midnight in the country.
They called the strike to press home their 11-point demand including full implementation of the pay scale of 2016, stopping extortion and robbery in river transport, and providing appointment letters, identity cards and service books to transport workers.
