Cox’s Bazar: Rohingya leaders have accused the delegates of Myanmar for making ‘jokes’ in the repatriation process of the Rohingyas though their government have agreed at the pressures of Bangladesh government and International bodies.

On Saturday (July 27) after a meeting with the Myanmar delegates held at Kutupalong Extension camp-4 of Ukhia the Rohingyas made this allegation. Myanmar has sent their delegation to Bangladesh for the second time to take back the Rohingyas from Bangladesh. The Myanmar delegation led by Foreign Minister Mint Thoye is now in Bangladesh.

After the meeting the leader of the Thumbru Rohingya camp Dil Mohammad told Barta24.com that the delegation presented that old story. We repeatedly had told them earlier that we will not go back to our homeland without our citizenship. But they are making ‘jokes’ that citizenship will be given after we return. But they can grant citizenship any moment. So their blank proposal was unacceptable.

Dil Mohammad further said that we want to get back our normal life in Myanmar. We will not reside in any camp. If we are to go back then we will go with the status of a citizen. We are telling it time and again.

The representative of Kutupalong camp Md. Jubair told Barta24.com that the Myanmar delegates gave the same proposal earlier. But we told them clearly that unless we are granted the rights of citizenship we cannot go back but they did not agree. It is very difficult to go to that country without citizenship, Jubair said.

The female representative of the Rohingyas Jahura Khatun told Barta24.com that we demanded normal movement of the women there to them. But they did not tell anything on the proposal. They proposed that after return we would have to stay in camps. But this cannot be accepted. We cannot lead a camp life in our own country. We want to sign the deal with them at the presence of the International communities as witness. We want to go back there but not in this way, Jahura said.

On the other hand the leader of Myanmar delegation and foreign minister Mint Thoye did not agree to make any comment to the journalists. However, on Sunday night (July 28) he will visit Rohingya camp. He said that he will talk with the journalists there.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Relief and Repatriation Md. Abul Kalam also did not agree to make any comment to the journalists.

Earlier the high powered Myanmar delegation reached at Cox’s Bazar airport on Saturday at 10 A.M. the delegation reached the Kutupalong Extension camp-4. In the afternoon they held in a meeting with the Rohingya leaders.

On the other hand a delegation of South East Asian (ASEAN) relief affairs ‘AHA’ center also started talks for the repatriation of the Rohingyas. In the night they will sit with the Bangladesh delegation at Tulip.

The ASEAN group is supposed to hold a meeting with the Rohingyas on Sunday (July 28) morning. Besides, they will sit with the Myanmar delegation, the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner, district administration and other International organizations to learn about the present condition of the Rohingyas.

It may be mentioned here that from August 25 of 2017 more than 11 lakh Rohingyas took shelter in Bangladesh after they were driven out by the military junta of Myanmar. Next no reparation could be done despite repeated attempts by national and International communities. However, being pressurized by International communities Myanmar has sent delegation for the second time.
