Dengue outbreak turns into frightening situation: Mayor Sayeed Khokon

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has said dengue situation in Bangladesh is worsening every day.

He said: “The number of patients suffering from dengue fever is increasing day by day. As of now, over 10,000 dengue patients have been identified.”

 “We have around 100 councilors and it is not true that all of them are inactive. We cannot even say that all of them are doing their job properly. We are trying to ensure coordinate.” he said after inspecting treatment facilities at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.

Khokon said: “Mosquito does not differentiate between a mayor or minister. It bites everyone. Being the mayor, I am also an inhabitant of this city, and I am worried too as I have a family like all other citizens,”

Emphasizing precautions and government initiatives on Dengue outbreak the mayor said: “Every agency of the government is doing their best to control the situation. Do not lose your mental strength, do not get scared. We are doing our best to tackle the situation. Citizens can later evaluate our work.”

The mayor said this week they will provide aerosol to educational institutions.
