Policemen among 11 testify in Holey Artisan attack case

Eleven more policemen gave depositions before a tribunal in a case lodged over the 2016 terrorist attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.

Dhaka Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal Judge Majibur Rahman recorded their statements on Tuesday.

The witnesses are--Chawkbazar Zone Police Senior Assistant Commissioner Md Sirajul Islam; CID inspectors Md Shahidullah and Md Abdur Rahim; officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, Rangamati Khan Nurul Islam; CID sub-inspectors Md Nasiruddin; Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit sub-inspectors Suman Kumar Kundu and Ashraful Haque; its assistant sub-inspector Md Nuruzzaman; CID’s assistant sub-inspectors Gobinda Das and Aminul Islam and its constable Manik Babu.

After recording their depositions, the defence counsels cross-examined them at the court. Later, the court adjourned the trial proceedings till August 6 in the case.

Till date, a total of 85 out of 211 prosecution witnesses gave depositions before the tribunal in connection with the case.

Earlier, the trial against eight militants started on November 26, last year in the much-talked about case.
