Dhaka: With the object of reducing the land related complexities, to make the land management easier and also for creating awareness the National Curriculum and Text Book Board (NCTB) has begun working to include the subject in the text books considering the proposal of Land Ministry.

It is learnt that at Land Administration Training Center a seminar on ‘the necessity to include the land related matters in the national curriculum’ was discussed held on December 12 of 2018. In the seminar a strong opinion came up to include the matter in the national curriculum of secondary level education. On the basis of the opinion, the director (joint secretary) of Land Administration Center Md. Abdul Hye sent a letter to Land secretary with the suggestion tagging the recommendations of the seminar. The director suggested Land secretary to make request to the Ministry of Education to include the matters in the curriculum of class VI and class VIII.

In the recommendation it was told that in class VI, the matters of classification of land, the primary matters of law of inheritance of Hindu / Muslim, where the various land related services are available matters may be included in the curriculum. In the curriculum the matters of law of inheritance in the Arithmetic of class IX and class X may be included.

Besides, from class VIII to Class XI and in equivalent classes’ curriculum the history of land management, Bengal Tenancy Act of 1885, the State Acquisition and Tenancy law of 1950, classification of land, vested property, endowed property and land development tax matters were recommended to include.

Land Ministry taking the matters into cognizance has already requested the concerned to take necessary steps in this regard.

A source in the NCTB said that though there is a proposal to include the matters in the curriculum there are some complexities. How far a student of class VI will consume if we make a separate chapter on the matters of ‘classification of land and law of inheritance’ is a matter to ponder. Because normally the land related matters are very complex. So that a portion may be included which is consumable to them.

Senior Secretary of Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education Sohrab Hossain said that this is a good imitative. As there is recommendation to include in the curriculum the decision has to be taken by the NCTB.
Deputy Secretary Most. Nazmunnahar of Land Ministry on last March 13 sent a letter in this context to the Senior Secretary of Education ministry.

Speaking on the matter NCTB chairman Professor Narayan Chnadra Saha told Barta24.com that we have received the letter of the Land Ministry which is very much positive. We have accepted their proposal. The matter will be presented in the committee of the text book developing curriculum. How much in what class the matters can be included will be discussed there. We have already discussed the matter in the workshop of developing the curriculum with the stakeholders. We will again discuss the matter with them. Then we will have to take decision after discussion.

Speaking on the matter Land Secretary Md. Maksudur Rahman said that we want that the future generation of our country be well aware about the land related matters so we have informed the Ministry of Education to take necessary action. Let our students learn the complexities of land related matters well by which they will be benefitted in practical life.

It is learnt from the Land ministry that there is directive to take steps so that all classes’ of people be well acquainted about land matters. In that continuity lastly to aware the scouts and the local youths ‘Land services week and land development tax fair-2019’ was held. Besides, initiatives have been taken to include the land related matters in the curriculum of schools, colleges and universities. Again some Assistant Commissioners (Land) have taken up the informal program of disseminating basic knowledge and general knowledge among the students in various areas.
