Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan warned that the government will not tolerate any kind of extortion at the city’s Karwan Bazar.
The minister came up with the warning while addressing a cleanliness drive on Sunday.
Home Minister issued warning to extortionists, saying, “I clearly said if extortionists don’t stop extortion then leave Karwan Bazar. No one involved in criminal activities and extortion will be allowed here.”
“Stern actions will be taken against those involved in extortion,” he added.
Before the Awami League came to power, the minister said, at least one murder incident used to take place every month at Karwan Bazar. Such incidents have already halted, following the government’s initiative.
