Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has said DSCC will dispose of the wastes of sacrificial animals within 24 hours to keep the city clean and prevent environment pollution.

“The slaughter of sacrificial animals takes place mostly on the Eid day after the Namaj. The wastes of that day will be cleaned within 24 hours,” Khokon said while inaugurating wastes cleaning drive in Dhaka on Monday.

Mentioning the success of removing wastes within 24 hours last year, Khokon said a total of 339 spots, including five in every ward, have been designated in the DSCC area for slaughtering sacrificial animals on the Eid day so that wastes of animals could be managed properly.

“If it is not possible to use any of the designated spots, make sure that you wash the area used for sacrificing animals with ample water and bleaching powder,” he added.

Khokon also said the dengue outbreak may worsen if the waste is not managed properly.

He sought cooperation of city dwellers and urged them to collect wastes in the bags that will be supplied by the city corporation.

He also urged all to keep them on specific spots so that the employees of city corporation can collect them.

The city dwellers can inform the call centre if they notice any animal wastes anywhere in the city using the hotline number 09611000999, he added.
