Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal informed that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had directions to engage local consultants in the development projects. The Minister disclosed that Bangabandhu once gave directives to include one local consultant along with foreign consultants in a project of World Bank.
Bangabandhu maintained the idea that local consultants shall be there in the projects. His intention was to nurture local consultants. Because, Bangabandhu had infallible love for the nation. The Minister was addressing as the chief guest in the discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil organized in connection with the 44th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman held at NEC auditorium on Tuesday (August 27).
Economic Relations Division (ERD) Secretary Monwar Ahmed chaired the meeting organized by ERD.
Reminiscing Bangabandhu, the Finance Minister said that, ‘I got the closeness of Bangabandhu. I had the opportunity to observe Bangabandhu for four times from very close proximity. Let me narrate the incident of one day- we were waiting for Bangabandhu. Another high official with a file was waiting for Bangbandhu much before us. Arriving in the waiting place Bangabandhu asked the officer about his coming there. The officer in reply told that I have come with a file of World Bank who had suggested the name of a consultant for carrying fact finding study. Bangabandhu wanted to know the name of the consultant. The officer informed that they named a German company.
The name of the company was Agro Progress JMBH. Bangabandhu instantly said ‘no’. I cannot accept it. It is our project. If they give a consultant we would also give a local consultant. Their assigned consultant may not do the work. But we need to do the work. So we will also give a local consultant to perform the project.
Finance Minister said that Bangabandhu is not a name only but a name of a country. Bangabandhu is a name of red-green flag. Bangabandhu is the inspiration of everything. Bangabandhu is that man whom we can trust. He is the light house of our spirit who used to dream the welfare of Bangalee nation.
Mustafa Kamal said that Bangabandhu did not die. Bangabandhu is the phoenix of Greek fairy tale. Phoenix birds never die. Bangabandhu will remain alive to us so long the sun will rise on the earth; so long a single Bangalee will survive.
