One alleged notorious drug trader Rokon(30) accused in a number of cases was killed in a ‘gun fight’ with Police in Damurhuda upzailla of Chuadnaga district.
On Friday (August 30) night the incident took place at Jairampur Kathaltala area on Chuadanga –Darsana road. The deceased Rokon was the son of one Abu Bakkar Siddik of South Chandpur village.
Police informed that acting on a tip off a mobile patrol team came to know that at Jairampur Kathaltala area drug trading was going on. Accordingly the Police team rushed to the spot. At one stage the drug traders fired upon the Police. Police in self- defense counter fired on the drug traders.
After the firing ended Police found Rokon with bullet wounds, a wanted accused and also a notorious drug trader. Rokon was immediately shifted to the Emergency of Chuadanga Sadar hospital but was pronounced dead by the on duty doctors.
Officer in Charge of Damurhuda Police Station Sukumar Biswas said that the dead youth was the notorious drug trader of Darsana Damurhuda area. About 10/12 cases are pending with Damurhuda Model Police Station against Rokon.
