Two cops injured in a cocktail blast in the capital

An incident of cocktail blast occurred causing wounds to two cops on Saturday (August 31) night at Science Laboratory crossing. The two cops were on duty in the protection of LGRD & Cooperatives Minister Tazul Islam. The cops were identified as ASI Shahabuddin and police constable Aminul.

The injured cops were admitted to Dhaka Medical College hospital (DMCH), told by Assistant Police Commissioner of Dhanmondi PS Hasinuzzaman.

AC Hasinuzzaman who was present at the place of occurrence told barta24.com that, ‘practically the cocktail was thrown at the car of the Minister who was moving with police protocol.’

Later on DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told the journalists that, ‘the car of the Minister Tazul Islam was stalled in a traffic jam while crossing the Science Lab crossing. The moment Protocol Officer Shahabuddin Mia after embarking from the protection vehicle tried to clear the jam the miscreants threw the hand made bombs targeting the Science Lab police box.’

Earlier the AC of Ramna zone (AC-Dhanmondi) Asanuzzaman Mia told barta24.com that, ’who has committed this incident of bomb throwing is still to be ascertained. The Bomb Disposal Unit will determine the strength of the bomb. After investigation it can be said in details.’
