The 29th death anniversary of language veteran, philanthropist and founder of local Dr. Zahed Memorial Shishu Hospital(DZMSH) was observed here on Monday (Sept.2) in a befitting manner.
In this connection the hospital committee chalked out an elaborate program including Quran Khawni, Doa Mahfil, Ziarat of the grave of late Dr. Zahed, blood donation camp, serving improved diet to the patients of the 100 bed - hospital and discussion meeting.
The discussion meeting held in the afternoon at the DZMSH on the life and works of late founder who was a private medical practiceneer also founded Faridpur Diabetic hospital and Faridpur Eye hospital. It may be mentioned here that Dr Md. Zahed received National Award from the government for his contribution in various social work.
The discussion meeting was chaired by Professor M.A. Samad while it was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridpur Atul Sarkar as the chief guest who is also the chief patron of the hospital.
Atul Sarkar, who joined this district, recently expressed his surprise at the advancement of this district in the health service sector at non government level. He stressed the need for coming forward of the private persons and organizations along side with government efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the ailing people of this district.
Atul Sarkar said that despite our endeavors still there are some areas and people who are deprived of minimum medical facilities. He sought the cooperation of the social workers to take programs to reach medical facilities to the remote areas of this district particularly in ‘charland’ of river Padma which is isolated from the mainland.
DC assured the DZMSH authorities about his all time cooperation for the development of the hospital thereby rendering better services to the ailing children.
The discussion meeting was also addressed by secretary of hospital committee Md. Salahuddin Farid, Professor Abdul Hamid Molla, EC member Professor Md. Shahjahan and EC member Prof. Abdul Aziz.
At the end of the meeting special ‘munajat’ was recited by Mowlana Abul Kalam Azad. The meeting was conducted by EC member Animesh Roy.
