Planning Minister Abdul Mannan urged on reaching the services to the rural areas alongside urban areas.

He said that earlier there was a sharp difference between towns and villages. The village was considered village so its development can be ignored, no matter. As the gentlemen used to reside in the towns so its development shall have to be expedited. Now that conception has changed. The villages shall have to be served equally.

On Saturday while inaugurating a conference he told all these held at Brac - in- center.

At Brac –in- center  South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM) organized a two day conference titled ‘4th South Asia Economic Network Conference on Sub national Finance and Local Service Delivery’.

The Planning Minister said that after the departure of the colonial power from our country the very conception of developmental ideas have changed thoroughly. The development work should be done along with all. The last man of the village must be included in the process of development. Pure drinking water shall have to arrange for him. Sanitation shall have to be done for all. His son should be vaccinated. Schools shall have to be arranged for all. All the children shall have to be provided with books. Clinic facilities shall have to be arranged near their houses. Electricity arrangement must be done there.

Claiming that conception of old ideas on development was changed by our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Awami League. We not only brought liberation but we tackled poverty successfully and doing national reforms. It will ensure justice in the society and we would be able to bring all the facilities of better life in the villages.

The Minister also sought cooperation of all to ensure stability for equitable development.

The function was also addressed among others by Country Director of World Bank Miau Tenmbon, Chief Economist Hance Teemar and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman.
