526 kilometers of rail line will be built in the 2nd phase

Bangladesh Railway will build 526 kilometers of rail line in the second phase of its 30 year long development program.

On Wednesday (Sept.11) it was learnt from the sources of Bangladesh Railway. 

It is learnt from a report of the Planning of Bangladesh Railway, that  in the second phase from 2021 to 2025 period 526 kilometers of new rail line will be built. These includes Satkhira- Munshiganj 15 kms, Jamalpur –Sherpur 32 kms, Dhaka – Chattogram High speed 230 kms, Circular rail line around Dhaka city 100 kms, Kushtia by pass 10 kms, Iswardi –EPZ link 6 kms, Maheshkhali- Matarbari  link 18 kms, Navaraon –Satkhira 85 kms, Chatakbazar- Sunamganj 30 kms railway line will be built. 

On the other hand from 2016, a grand plan of 30 years was taken up for implementation in 6 phases. From 2016 to 2020 the target of the new line construction was fixed at 438 .52 kilometers. This project is almost at its final stage. This whole grand plan is supposed to be implemented by 2045.
