Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that no corrupt will be tolerated. The corrupt might be a politician, might be a service holder or an elected representative of the people but he or they must be brought under the purview of law, Kamal said.

On Tuesday (Sept. 17) after inaugurating the data base of the prisoners sponsored by the directorate of United Nations Organization on Drug Control and Crime (UNODC) at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel the minister said these to the journalists.

The home minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced zero tolerance policy against drug menace after militancy and terrorism. Now she has cautioned the corrupt people and warned that she would not tolerate corruption any where.

Regarding the corruption of the prisons he said that corruption is everywhere. We will not give shelters or favor any corrupt person.

He reminded all that the corrupt whoever he may be will be brought under the purview of law. He said that the campaign against corruption in the prisons will continue. On the other hand UNODC has developed database software of the inmates of the prisons containing bio-metric information. From last June it has been in use at Kashimpur jail 2 and Gazipur district jail.

Regarding the utility of this database he said that through this criminal database all the information of every inmate will be preserved. All the movements of the each inmate will be recorded.

According to the prison authorities due to database the identification of the inmates have become easy and faultless.

Among other US ambassador to Bangladesh Robert Miller and Resident Representative of United Nations Mea Seppo were present in the inaugural function.
