International Day of Peace 2019 observed in Faridpur

International Day of Peace 2019 was observed here on Saturday (Sept.21) with a befitting manner through holding rallies and discussion meeting.

This years’ theme was ‘Climate Action for Peace’ which focuses on to fight against climate change and its importance while promoting a peace ideal to all nations across the world.

A big rally participated by scouts, rovers, students, teachers and officials was brought out in the town that paraded on the street to create awareness among the people about the adverse affects of climate change in Bangladesh.

The rally was followed by a discussion meeting held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner(DC) of Faridpur.

DC Atul Sarkar was the chief guest chaired by ADC (Gen) Roksana Rahman.

Atul Sarkar in his speech explained how climate can disturb peace and elaborately described the causes of climate change and also the possible harm that could create adverse impact on our country. He underlined the increase of ‘green house gas’ due to exhale of carbon dioxide, melting of ice in the North pole, rise in sea level, destruction of ecological balance by the human being and so on.

He asked the students to take care of the nature particularly to avoid the use of harmful substances in our daily life that could endanger our surroundings creating health hazards.

He further asked the students to avoid the use of polythene and also keep clean their houses, workplace and school premises.

Some students speaking on the occasion made commitment to follow the advice  of DC and their teachers in keeping the environment hazard free.

It was also addressed by Journalist Prof Md. Shahjahan and Prof. Rezvi Zaman.
