World Heart Day observed on Sunday in Faridpur

World Heart Day, a part of the global program was observed here at Faridpur on Sunday (Sept.29) in a befitting manner.

In the morning a mini-truck decorated with the festoons, banners and posters with the slogans of ‘ailing heart and its remedies’ was brought out in the town which paraded the all the streets of the town to evoke awareness among the masses about the vital organ of the human body ‘heart’. The mini-truck is still roaming around the town.

A discussion meeting on the occasion was held in the conference room of Faridpur Heart Foundation(FHF). The discussion was chaired by eminent cardiologist of this town and FHF president Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Shamim while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Atul Sarkar was the chief guest.

DC Atul Sarkar in his speech said that heart is an important organ of human body and without a sound heart a man cannot live long and he is being deprived of all the happiness and beauty of this world. He said that we should take every care to keep our heart ‘disease free’ which does not require spending extra money but a disciplined life. He laid stress on changing of food habits, to do exercise regularly and inhale fresh air. If any person is not free from disease particularly from cardiac problem he cannot contribute for the family, society and also for the nation.        

He disclosed that a modern Coronary Care Unit (CCU) will be soon set up at Faridpur Medical College Hospital with the object of creating facilities for the treatment of cardiac patients.    

Among others Additional Police Super Zamal Pasha, FHF vice –president Prof Md. Shahjahan, chairman of Cardiology department of Faridpur Diabetic Medical College Prof. Dr. Yunus Ali, SACHIP president Dr. M.A. Jalil and FHF secretary Prof. M.A. Samad spoke in the function.

In the later part FHF Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Shamim made a video presentation on various aspect of Cardiac related problem and its treatment
