India confers Tagore peace award to Sheikh Hasina

From New Delhi (India): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be conferred ‘Rabindra Nath Tagore Peace Award’ for her contribution in enhancing regional cultural friendship.

On next Saturday (Oct.5) the Prime Minister will be handed over the award. The award will be presented to her on behalf of the Asiatic Society.

The Tagore peace award signifies for building cultural friendship in connection with the 150th birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindra Nath Tagore. The government of India introduced this award in 2012. This award is given to individual, organization and institutions for spreading the values of cultural friendship.

In conferring the selection generally the contributions of last ten years are considered. The first Tagore peace award was conferred to spiritual leader Rabi Sankar. In 2013 Jubin Mehta of India got this award. This time Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is getting it.

From Thursday (Oct. 3) the four day official visit to India is beginning. At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is reaching New Delhi in the morning. She will join the India Summit organized by World Economic Forum.
