The crisis of class rooms have been prevailing for a long time in the Government Secondary schools as the existing accommodations have become old and worn out. To solve this problem government have taken an initiatives to build modern and beautiful buildings within 2021. The cost of this project has been estimated at Taka 3284 crores. Under this project the buildings at district and division levels will be of ten storied while those of upazilla levels will be six storied.
According to the sources of the Education ministry, of the total 335 government Secondary schools, 12 are included in a separate project of Secondary and Higher Secondary directorate. The rest 323 schools have been included in the proposed project. Of these, buildings of most schools are old and worn out. It is estimated that in the newly constructed buildings opportunities and facilities of admission of new students numbering about 76 thousand science students including the existing 2 lakh 82 thousand will be created. Post for 9 thousand teachers will be created. Besides in three hill districts 24 hostels for the students will be built.
According to the sources of Secondary and Higher Secondary directorate of the total 323 new academic buildings 149 are of upazilla levels’. Tenders of 174 buildings of district and upazilla levels cannot be floated till the revision of DPP. However the project is supposed to be completed within 2021.
Project Director(PD) of this project Professor Md. Nasiruddin told barta24.com that the development of the Secondary Schools related project is going on. Meanwhile we have given approval to many projects. The newly constructed buildings will have multi-purpose digital class rooms. Multi-purpose hall, ICT lab, library and all types of sports gears.
Speaking on this project Deputy Minister for Education Muhibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel told barta24.com that the secondary schools will be developed in all respect. This will help increase the capacity of class rooms and an over all development will be done.
