I'll ensure justice into Abrar murder as a mother: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said she would ensure justice into the murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad as a mother.

She said, "Not only as the head of the government, but also as a mother, I'll ensure justice into Abrar murder through proper investigation."

Central leaders of Awami League along with the acting president and the general secretary of Chhatra League met with the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's official residence Ganabhaban on Tuesday night regarding the incident in BUET.

The central leaders who were present in the meeting quoted Sheikh Hasina as saying  everyone has to be careful as some mischievous politicians would try to gain benefits by capitalizing on the murder of Abrar. 

The Prime Minister also said "I have started the campaign, no wrongdoers will be spared."

The leaders also informed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, expressing her grief over the murder of Abrar, said the Vice-Chancellor of the University should have gone to the spot immediately.

In the meeting, Chhatra League's acting president Al Nahian Khan Joy and general secretary Lekhak Bhattacharya informed her about situation in BUET.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: "We are strict in this regard. Those who are involved in the incident were arrested within a short time. Case has been filed. Those who were involved were expelled from Chhatra League.

No other government has taken such immediate action into incidents like this. There will be justice according to the law, she said.

Sheikh Hasina said, once there was use of arms at Dhaka University. When we came to power, we stopped it. What we did for education, no government after 1975 ever did. There is no arms in campuses, no disturbanc.

The Prime Minister advised Chhatra League to remain 'silent' about the ongoing movement in BUET and said, "We are not doing politics with the incident. Chhatra League or the government did not favor the criminals. Therefore, Chhatra League has to be careful so that no one can give the movement political color.

She said the government has done everything that it had to do regarding the incident. Now there is none to use arms in educational institutions. Those who don't like it can try to destablize up the campus.

Among the central leaders of the party, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub ul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Md. Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, AFM Bahauddin Nakhim, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naofel were present at the meeting.
